The core of melamine sponges is a porous structure that works by adsorbing stains. As long as the structure is not severely damaged, they can be reused. When the sponge becomes noticeably smaller, the pores are clogged with stains, and its cleaning ability decreases, it is recommended to replace it with a new one.

Cleaning method

1. Rinse the sponge with clean water while gently squeezing it by hand to use the water flow to flush out stains from the pores.
2. If stains are stubborn, add a small amount of dish soap to the clean water, soak for 1-2 minutes, then repeatedly squeeze and rinse until the water runs clear.
3. When cleaning the melamine sponge, avoid vigorously rubbing or twisting it to prevent damage to the internal porous structure, which could reduce its absorbency. After cleaning, do not scrub the sponge's surface with hard objects to avoid scratching or wearing it down.

Maintenance methods

1. After cleaning, squeeze out the water from the melamine sponge, lay it flat in a well-ventilated, dry place to air dry naturally, and avoid direct sunlight. High temperatures may cause the sponge to age and become brittle.
2. Do not seal the wet sponge in a plastic bag or container for an extended period of time, as this may lead to mold growth and affect its service life.
3. Melamine sponges are resistant to weak acids and alkalis, but prolonged exposure to strong acids, alkalis, or solvents can corrode the material, causing the sponge to dissolve or fracture.
4. Sponge of different cleaning types should be stored separately. For example, sponges used to clean kitchen grease and those used to clean bathroom scale should not be stored in the same location. This effectively prevents cross-contamination of stains.
