Different designs

  • Electrical tape comes in many colours, such as black, red, yellow, green, blue and so on. Different colours can be used to differentiate between wires such as fire, zero and earth. Some electrical tapes are marked with 'Dangerous Voltage'.
  • Ordinary tapes are mostly transparent, white or brown, without circuit marking function.

Different materials

  • The base material of electrical tape is usually PVC, rubber or silicone, which is flexible and resistant to stretching. The adhesive is a pressure-sensitive adhesive that is long-lasting and resistant to ageing.
  • The common base material of ordinary tape is BOPP, PET, and its glue is ordinary acrylic glue or natural rubber glue, which is weak and easy to age off.

Different applications

  • Electrical tape is usually used for wire joint insulation, cable bundling, electrical equipment maintenance. It is suitable for home circuits, automotive lines, industrial equipment and other electrically charged environments.
  • Ordinary tape is usually used for wrapping cardboard boxes, temporary fixing of items, and office use. This tape is prohibited to be used for electrified operation, otherwise it may cause electric shock or fire.
