How to use melamine floor mats

Choosing the right melamine floor mat
Choose the right melamine pad for your floor depending on the floor material and the degree of staining. Hard pads are good for removing heavy stains and medium hard pads are good for everyday cleaning.

Pre-treating heavy stains
Localised stubborn stains can be pre-treated by soaking in a detergent or using hand tools, and then cleaned with a scrubber with the appropriate hardness of melamine floor pads. This process prevents premature wear of the pad or poor cleaning results.

Maintain the right amount of water
Adjust the water flow rate of the scrubber according to the floor condition and the type of melamine floor mat, keeping the floor moist but not too wet. Too much water may cause accelerated wear of the melamine pads, while too little may affect cleaning results.

Even pressure and speed
When operating the scrubber, keep the machine at an appropriate angle to the floor and apply even pressure. Advance the machine at a steady speed and avoid sudden accelerations, sharp stops or large turns to prevent excessive wear of the melamine pads or uneven cleaning of the floor.

Regular Inspection and Replacement

Regularly check the wear and tear of the floor mats and replace them when they become lighter in colour, blurred in texture and less effective in cleaning. Excessively worn melamine floor mats not only clean poorly, they may also scratch the floor. Follow the manufacturer's recommended replacement intervals and adjust according to actual usage.

Correct storage and maintenance
Wash melamine floor mats thoroughly after use to remove residual stains and cleaning agents and to avoid hardening or mould. Store in a ventilated, light-proof place after drying to avoid crushing and deformation.

Reasonable matching use
For large area cleaning tasks, you can prepare a variety of different hardness and material of the pads. Use the pads in the order of 'first hard, then soft, first coarse, then fine' to remove stains efficiently and polish the floor meticulously, keeping the melamine pads in the best condition.

FAQ

Q: What does pad cleaning do?

A: Cleaning pads remove dirt, soil and contaminants. Sanding pads are used with automatic or rotary floor machines to smooth and prepare stripped surfaces for finishing. Scrubbing pads have more coarse grit used to remove dirt and prepare floors for burnishing.

Q: What's a floor pad?

A: A proper thickness of a protective pad not only protects the floor from unsightly scratches, but also does a decent job of muffling the sound of wheels rolling along its surface. But what does 'proper' thickness even mean? Some think a floor pad should practically blend into the floor's surface.

Q: What is a floor polisher pad used for?

A: A polishing floor pad used for light cleaning to help remove soil and scuff marks with minimal dulling of finish.
Can be used to polish wood floors, spray cleaning or dry buffing soft finishes (using a rotary machine)
Made of polyester fibers in an open textured non-woven construction.

Q: How do you clean cleaning pads?

A: And thankfully, it's a simple process. You can machine wash most mop pads, but they're also easy to hand wash. Simply soak them in a mixture of laundry detergent, baking soda, and hot water, then scrub them clean and rinse. Don't clean your floors with a dirty mop head!
